The Nude Party have signed with New West Records and are set to release their self-titled debut album on July 6, The track set was produced by the band's mentor and friend, Oakley Munson of Black Lips, and demonstrates their raw and effortless synchronicity that developed from learning how to play their instruments together since their teens. An inseparable gang of blood brothers bonded by a musical mission indistinguishable from their friendship, the band have lived as one unit in house after house for six years, honing their sound and aesthetic. In a flash to the future, not much has changed as the band is still rocking the same dive bar years later — with the older version of each member played by their actual parents. The following summer, the young men moved into a lake house outside of town to begin learning their respective instruments and jamming on rudimentary riffs.
More like brothers than bandmates, the six Nude dudes bring an energy to their live shows unlike any band I've seen as of late. And with such tight tunes reminiscent of The Animals and The Velvet Underground, you'd never know that most of the members have only been playing their instruments for about five years now. With a recent move out of North Carolina and into the Catskill Mountains of New York, the Nudes are rolling up their sleeves to focus on writing and recording more under the guidance and mentorship of Black Lips' drummer Oakley Munson. While the boys of The Nude Party are actually keeping their clothes on for the most part these days, the party aspect of their namesake is still fully operative. The members came together in the freshman dormitories of Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina in The following summer, with the shimmer of The Kinks, Velvet Underground, and other still-unsurpassed classic rock masterpieces as their soundtrack, the young men moved into a lake house outside of town, began acquiring and learning to play instruments, and jamming on rudimentary riffs. Friends came by the lake house to swim and canoe and party and soon ritual nudity was a part of the festivities. When the fall semester came around the friends moved into a house in Boone and the jamming continued in the basement on a nightly basis.
