About Worcester 78’s Basketball
To bring elite basketball talent from the local area together to compete for an ABA championship for Worcester
Tom Marino – Founder & CEO
Tom launched Worcester 78s basketball in the summer of 2017 after working with an ABA team in 2016. He is a digital marketing consultant supporting small business, family owned business and startups, exclusively.
For 15 years prior Tom had been a talent acquisition consultant in a range to high-tech disciplines in the Boston and metro west startup community. He has lived in Worcester and the surrounding communities for over 30 years.
Jacques Lambert – President
Jacques spent a decade working in music, television and film. In 2004 his entertainment career brought him to the world of sports through celebrity procurement.
Having produced over 100 NHL, NFL, NASCAR, NBA and arena football anthem, intermission and halftime shows. Jacques spent the last several years in Doha, Qatar working with the Qatari government, private investors and the US military in the production of celebrity projects from the world of sports, music & film. He was most recently a member of the executive staff of the Massachusetts Pirates before joining the 78s.
Anthony Leonelli – Head Coach & Director of Player Personnel
“Coach Leo” is a dynamic offensive basketball mind with an array of experience with sports program launches. Along with his coaching and executive position with the 78s, Leonelli is the first head baseball coach of the Pine Manor College baseball program. He is also the founder of 508 Sports which focuses on youth coaching and instruction.
He has been the head basketball coach at Green Mountain College in Vermont and an assistant basketball coach at Rhode Island College, Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) and Wentworth.
Don Porcaro Jr- Director of Gameday Operations
Bruce Teixeira – Director of Sales and Marketing
Bruce joined the Worcester 78’s in 2018, after a thirty five year career in the high tech industry. Bruce held multiple marketing, sales management and global relationship management roles during his tenure. His most recent responsibility was the Northeast Director of Sales for a Fortune 300 company.
Bruce is a Providence College graduate, was involved with Worcester County AAU basketball for a number of years and currently serves on two Boards of local Town Government.
